Group Deputy Principal and CEO, Mark Lumsdon-Taylor, recently appeared on the KMTV “Chris & Co” programme to discuss the latest business issues facing Kent and the South-East.
Covering topics such as gender pay gap reporting, Mark – who has recently been appointed as a UK Skills Commissioner sitting on a government gender and skills spotlight enquiry – spoke about some of the desired outcomes from the publication of the data and how to potentially raise participation of under-represented genders in certain industries.
Conversations also took place on the high-speed rail link and the opportunities that it brings places such as Ebbesfleet and Ashford, where the Group has a brand-new college close to the main-line station, as well as apprenticeships and the decline in apprenticeship starts following the apprenticeship levy. Here, the issue of how the levy was communicated was discussed, alongside how by investing in apprenticeships for both new and existing employees businesses can effectively position themselves for the next five years.
